Supervision services
Supervision services are personal health care services provided within the competence of the personal health care institution (PHCI) to patients who have come to the PHCI emergency department, performing the necessary examination and / or treatment actions. The monitoring service is provided by PHCI that provide inpatient personal health care services, with the exception of PHCI that provide only nursing and supportive care or only medical rehabilitation and sanatorium (anti-relapse) treatment services.
The supervision service must be provided in a type B, B1 or C * emergency department and territorial emergency medical help department's installed supervision room (with beds) or inpatient department, can be provided in A type emergency medical help department and territorial emergency medical help department's equipped supervision room (with beds) or at an inpatient department, as well as in A type emergency medical help department's installed supervision room (with beds) or an inpatient department.
*Emergency medical services departments
- Type A - located in institutions providing one-profile inpatient active health care services;
- Type A1 - located in institutions providing primary level inpatient personal health care services, when there are no institutions providing secondary level inpatient active health care services in the territory of the municipality. The establishment of type A1 emergency departments is not mandatory;
- Type B - located in personal health care institutions providing multi-profile inpatient secondary personal health care services, except for small district-level hospitals;
- Type B1 - located in small district level hospitals;
- Type C - in multi-profile inpatient tertiary health care institutions.
The supervision service is provided to the patient if:
- after the examination of the patient in the emergency department, it is not possible to accurately assess his / her state of health;
- the patient's health or life may be endangered if he / she is immediately released from the PHCI after the examination and / or treatment operations in the admission-emergency department;
- examination and / or treatment may be performed for a period of at least 4 hours and for no longer than 24 hours;
- it is not possible to ensure the safe transport of the patient without the necessary assistance.
The necessity of providing the monitoring service is decided by the doctor of the PHCI providing inpatient personal health care services who has assessed the patient's health condition. The costs of the monitoring service are paid from the Compulsory Health Insurance Fund, if the provided service meets the established requirements. If after providing the supervision service to the patient, during a 24 hour period, inpatient active healthcare services are provided in the same PHCI to ensure the continuity of healthcare services, the supervision service is free of charge and not paid for to the PHCI (in this case the territorial health insurance funds pay the PHCI the corresponding inpatient service base price).
