Emergency Medical Services
Emergency Medical Services (EMS), also known as ambulance services, are personal care services provided by Emergency Medical Services Institutions to provide the patient with the necessary medical care at his / her place of residence in a timely manner and, if necessary, to transport the sick or injured patient to the personal health care institution. EMS services are considered to be life-saving and life-preserving services.

EMS services are personal health care services that are provided:
- in cases of medical emergency (acute illness, transporting patients requiring emergency medical treatment during transport), and in cases of birth and death;
- at the scene of accidents, disasters, catastrophes, acute life-threatening illnesses, emergencies and emergency situations. The emergency medical treatment service provides emergency medical treatment to patients evacuated by rescue services from a dangerous environment to a place free of life and health risks;
- other services within its competence.
The EMS service may also provide other services free of charge from the Compulsory Health Insurance Fund (CHIF) within its competence.
The structure and internal organization of the EMS dispatching service and the composition and number of members of the EMS brigade (the EMS brigade must consist of at least two employees) shall be determined and approved by the head of the EMS body, taking into account the objectives of the EMS brigade and the competence of health professionals.
