Services provided by a family doctor or team of physicians (internal medicine physician, paediatrician, obstetrician, gynaecologist, and surgeon together), primary outpatient dental health care, and primary outpatient mental health care are referred to as primary outpatient personal health care services.

Family doctor team services - a complex of non-specialized personal health care services provided in accordance with the Family doctor's medical standard approved by the Minister of Health of the Republic of Lithuania, the General Practice Nurse Medical Standard and, if necessary, the Community Nurse Medical Standard and / or Midwifery Medical Standard, and / or Advanced Practice Nurse Medical Standard, and / or Nurse Assistant Medical Standard, and / or Regulations for Social Worker Activities in Health Care Institutions, and / or Lifestyle Medicine Specialist Activity Requirements, and / or Physiotherapist Medical Standard in Outpatient Health Care Institutions (i.e. in an institution that does not provide inpatient personal health care services), in patients' homes and social care institutions.

Primary outpatient personal dental care is a complex of non-specialized primary dental personal health care services provided in personal health care institutions licensed to provide dental services.

Primary outpatient mental health care is a complex of primary mental health care services provided in mental health centres or institutions that meet the requirements applicable to mental health centres.

The family doctor not only examines and treats, but also advises on how to eat healthily, exercise, reminds when to check in according to disease prevention programs. In case of doubt - sends patients to a specialist doctor for consultation or to the hospital. The family doctor works in accordance with the requirements of the family doctor's medical norm, i.e. monitors the health of the population of all age groups, consults on all health issues. He is also assisted by specialists working in a team according to their competence.
