The Seimas approved the budget of the Compulsory Health Insurance Fund for the next year
Yesterday, the Seimas approved the budget of the Compulsory Health Insurance Fund (CHIF) for next year. The growing CHIF will amount to 2.79 billion euros next year. CHIF budget revenue will grow by EUR 203 million next year or 7.8% more than foreseen in this year’s CHIF budget. By allocating more funds, patients will be reimbursed for more necessary treatment services, their rates will increase, the availability of services will improve, and modern test, treatment methods as well as new reimbursable medicines will appear.
In 2022, the CHIF budget revenues will consist of: compulsory health insurance premiums administered by Sodra - about EUR 1 billion 775 million, state budget contributions for persons insured with state funds - about EUR 772.6 million, state budget appropriations - about EUR 204.1 million, funds refunded under treatment accessibility improvement and risk-sharing agreements - 30.5 million, other income of the CHIF - about 8.4 million euros.
In 2022, CHIF budget expenditures will amount to almost EUR 301 million or more by 12.1% than foreseen in this year’s approved CHIF budget. The major part of the CHIF budget in 2022 will consist of the funds to cover the costs of health care services – almost EUR 1 billion 943 million, this is more by EUR 269 million or 16.1% than foreseen this year.
About EUR 530.3 million is planned for medicines and medical aids. This is EUR 79 million or 17.5% more than foreseen this year. Almost EUR 114.3 million has been foreseen for medical rehabilitation and sanatorium treatment. This is more by EUR 16 million or 16.5% than foreseen this year. EUR 17.2 million have been provided for orthopaedic technical devices. This is more by EUR 0.6 million or 3.6 per cent than foreseen this year.
The budget reserve of the compulsory health insurance fund on 1 January 2022 will amount to more than EUR 344.2 million. The reserve funds are divided into two parts: main and risk management. The main part of the CHIF budget reserve for 2022 should amount to EUR 41.8 million at the beginning of 2022, and the remaining funds in the CHIF budget reserve totalling EUR 302.4 million should constitute the part of risk management.
