One-call service: NHIF and the Employment Service will join together for the convenience of residents

A new one-call service developed by the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) and Employment Service specialists has been launched. It will help people who contact their advice centres by phone to get answers to their questions faster and more efficiently.

Both institutions have decided to simplify the telephone consultation process. The service works as follows: if a resident calls the Employment Service but has questions related to the activities of the Health Insurance Funds, the call will be transferred directly to an NHIF consultant. In the same way, if a call to the NHIF requires specialist advice from the Employment Service, the call will be transferred to the Employment Service. This saves time by eliminating the need for residents to call back repeatedly to get answers to their questions.

“Responding to the changing needs of our clients, we strive to make our consultations fast, convenient and efficient. We often find that people are unclear about which agency is responsible for certain issues, so we can now direct calls to Employment Service specialists immediately if needed. This call forwarding service will not only help residents save time, but will also allow them to receive comprehensive services from both institutions in a single call,” says Rolanda Jonuškienė, Head of the E-services Division of NHIF.

According to her, every day the specialists of the health insurance funds who consult the population receive about half a thousand calls on various issues.

Calling the Health Insurance Funds’ fixed information number +370 5 232 2222 provides general information on health care services, their payment, reimbursable medicines and medical aids, dental prosthetics, consultations on the legality of fees paid in medical institutions, the use of the European Health Insurance Card, and other services, the costs of which are reimbursed by the health insurance funds.

“The most common questions we get are about registering at the Employment Service, becoming unemployed and compulsory health insurance. Until now, we have only been able to provide general information on this topic and a contact number where customers can find out more. The new solution will allow even more organisations to answer questions more quickly and the one-stop-shop approach will ensure the highest quality of service,” pointed out Vaida Urbanskienė, Head of the Customer Service and Service Management Division of the Employment Service.

Clients are invited to contact the Employment Service on the general consultation number +370 5 250 0883. It provides information to at least 1,000 people every day.

A year ago, the NHIF introduced a similar one-call service together with Sodra.
