Changes to the procedure for writing prescriptions and dispensing certain prescription medicines
Ministry of Health informs that the procedure for writing prescriptions of compensated medicines changes as of 1 June, simplifying the choice of reimbursement type codes for doctors. Also, seeking to promote rational usage of certain medicines, the procedure for issuing prescription medicines with semaglutide and somatropin as active substances is tightened.
The new order of the Minister, which will come into force on 1 June, simplifies the choice of reimbursement type codes when prescriptions are issued - there will be only 3 reimbursement type codes: “3 - Listed disease - 100%”, “16 - Rare disease - 100%” and a new reimbursement type code “17 - Listed disease - 50%”.
As of 1 June, reimbursement type codes “1”, “2”, “6”, “7” and “13” will no longer be used in the Information system for Electronic Health Services and Collaboration Infrastructure (EHSCI IS) and only 3 above-mentioned reimbursement type codes will be visible.
Prescriptions issued before 1 June with reimbursement type codes and reimbursement types valid until 1 June will be valid for the period of validity specified in the prescription.
The new Order of the Minister also provides for a tightened procedure for dispensing prescription medicines. As of 1 August, medicines with pregabalin as active substance will be prescribed in paper prescriptions when they are prescribed as non-reimbursed and in exceptional cases (for example, when it is not possible to issue an electronic prescription due to a malfunction of the healthcare institution’s information system and a doctor does not have technical capacity to access EHSCI IS through the eHealth portal). In such cases, the doctor will have to prescribe them only on special prescription forms of Form 2. If the above medicine is prescribed as reimbursable, only a Form 3 or a prescription form of Form 3 (in exceptional cases) will need to be filled in, special prescription of Form 2 is not required. The procedure for the prescription of this medical product in electronic prescriptions remains unchanged.
The procedure for dispensing prescription medicines with semaglutide and somatropin as active substances will also be tightened from 1 August: paper prescriptions of Form 1 used by pharmacies to dispense these medicines will have to be kept for a year at pharmacies. These medicines will not be dispensed without a prescription, too. This will prevent medicines with semaglutide and somatropin as active substances from being abusively acquired in pharmacies without a prescription or with the same paper prescription for several times.
