Cardiovascular sisease prevention program: the key to health quality
Despite the fact that more and more funds of the Compulsory Health Insurance Fund (CHIF) are allocated to the cardiovascular disease prevention program every year, the mortality rate from these diseases in our country remains relatively high. Therefore, health insurance funds encourage men and women to make more active use of the opportunities offered by the state to have their health checked free of charge under this program.
To be tested under the cardiovascular disease prevention program, you should first consult your family doctor, who will introduce you to the program in detail and prescribe the necessary tests. Once completed, a plan of primary prevention measures will be developed for the patient, the implementation and effectiveness of which will be monitored by a physician.
The program is open once a year for men aged 40 to 54 (inclusive) and women aged 50 to 64 (inclusive). Once risk factors have been identified, program participants are referred to specialized cardiovascular disease prevention units.
People covered by the compulsory health insurance (CHI) do not have to pay for the services provided in the program. They are paid for with funds of the CHIF by the health insurance funds.
According to the data of the health insurance funds, according to the cardiovascular disease program last year, almost 32 thousand people were examined within the area of operation of the Klaipėda territorial health insurance fund. Last year, the situation changed for the better, more than 43 thousand people took the opportunity of examination.
Health insurance funds recall that people covered by CHI can have their health checked under five disease prevention programs: cervical, breast, prostate and colon cancer, and cardiovascular disease.
We invite people to explore these programs. They allow changes to be detected early, serious diseases to be identified and treated effectively. Diseases detected early are much easier to cure than those detected at later stages.
