Orthodontic apparatus
Orthodontics is a service provided by specialists in dental and maxillofacial anomalies, which is reimbursed by the sickness funds from the Compulsory Health Insurance Fund (CHIF). Orthodontic treatment can only be prescribed and administered by an orthodontist.
Orthodontic plates and braces are paid for from the CHIF budget, but only for certain diseases and conditions. Orthodontic plates and brace systems are recorded in the list of orthopedic technical devices reimbursed from the CHIF budget and their basic prices are approved by the order of the Minister of Health, which sets out the conditions and basic prices for reimbursement of orthodontic appliances. In all cases, the need for treatment is decided by the attending physician, who has assessed the patient's medical condition.
