Hearing Aids
Hearing aids paid for by health insurance funds from the Compulsory Health Insurance Fund (CHIF) are intended for adults and children covered by compulsory health insurance for the hearing impaired. Individuals with hearing impairments who wish to receive a hearing aid be reimbursed by the health insurance fund should first consult their family doctor, who will refer it to a specialist for consultation. After determining the need for a hearing aid and taking into account the degree of hearing loss, the specialist will indicate which group of hearing aids a person needs: there are 4 groups of hearing aids for children and 5 groups for adults. The hearing aid compensated for 100 percent by the CHIF fund may only be prescribed by an otolaryngologist according to established medical indications.
