Cooperation in the field of health insurance
The National Health Insurance Fund under the Ministry of Health (NHIF) and the Social Health Insurance Fund of Kazakhstan signed a memorandum agreeing to develop cooperation in the field of social health insurance.
The two countries agreed to share their experience in the field of compulsory health insurance (CHI), as well as legislative developments in this area. Joint meetings and seminars will be organised to discuss news and issues, and information will be exchanged electronically.
In Lithuania, the universal CHI model has been in place since 1997, when healthcare institutions started to be financed according to the principles of health insurance. Over a quarter of a century, health insurance funds have accumulated a wealth of both theoretical and practical experience in the field of CHI. It has also shared its experience with the social health insurance authorities of other countries such as Latvia, Estonia, Poland, Slovenia and Azerbaijan.
The Social Health Insurance Fund of Kazakhstan is a non-profit public limited company responsible for implementing the social health insurance model in Kazakhstan.
