Many health and compulsory health insurance (CHI) issues and problems can be clarified and solved from the comfort of your own home, whether online or by phone. „E-services for the residents“ section (in Lithuanian language) of the website offers a wide range of online services: check whether a person is insured with CHI; find out what is the cost of treatment and medicines; order a European Health Insurance Card; check where you are in your queue for a joint replacement or a treatment facility, etc.

On 14-18 November this year, Lithuania was visited by a delegation from the State Agency for Compulsory Health Insurance of Azerbaijan. The visit was organised under the EU twinning project 'Strengthening mandatory health insurance mechanisms in Azerbaijan (Phase 2)’.

The Ministry of Health initiated changes for supportive care and nursing service requirements that are coming into force as of October. This will enable to ensure a better quality of inpatient care.

From now on, patients in pain due to oncological diseases can rent and use an infusion pump, covered by the Compulsory Health Insurance Fund, much easier. The new infusion pump prescription procedure is already in force, says the National Health Insurance Fund under the Ministry of Health.

Recognising the World Mental Health Day, the health insurance funds are drawing attention to the irrational use of sedatives as one of the most relevant mental health issues. The Committee of Medicines, operating at Šiauliai Territorial Health Insurance Fund, is warning that irrational use of sedatives may result in addiction.
